On January 14^th, two subjects entered the Jack in the Box located at 2208 Rankin Highway with the mission to steal money from the business safe.  The two individuals are believed to have ties with the business due to the fact that they entered the building by using a business key to unlock the door.  They then proceeded inside the business where they disabled the surveillance camera by painting the lens with spray paint.  The subjects are believed to have had the combination to the safe and upon opening it stole all the currency inside.  Again, it is more likely that this is an inside job by current or former employees or someone that has ties with either because the set up of the business was known by the actors.

 Sometime during December 19^th thru 20^th, unknown actor(s) damaged the art exhibits at Windlands park located at 1000 W. Dengar.  The sculptures were not only damaged but also pulled out of the ground.  The damage to one of these art pieces was so extensive that the Midland Parks Department had to remove it.  Each of these art works has an estimated investment value of $5,000 by the Arts Council of Midland.

HOMICIDE - Midland Police responded to a call in reference to shots being fired at Park at Caldera Apartments located at 3100 Caldera at 12:59 a.m. Upon arrival, Torvorian Carter, 25 years old, was found with a single gunshot wound and transported to Midland Memorial Hospital ER, where he was later pronounced dead.

On November 5th, the Midland Police Department responded in the early morning hours to an apartment complex in the northwest area of the city.  The victim was reporting that numerous masked men woke him from his sleep when they kicked open the front door of his apartment.  The victim was then sprayed in the face with an irritant substance and forced to hand over his money. 

When the suspects left, the victim gave chase and observed the suspects getting into a dark colored older model Dodge Caravan.  The suspects were last seen traveling in this vehicle westbound on Loop 250.

On October 19, 2011, the victim of this crime called the Midland Police Department to report that his wallet was missing and an unknown subject had used his credit card to make unauthorized purchases of approximately $850 at Midland’s north Wal-Mart.  The primary purchase was clothes.   A video of the transaction was obtained and the black female suspect was recorded on video.  She is described as having short straight hair, heavy set, approximately 5’6 to 5’8 and at the time of the crime was wearing a blue tank top and faded blue jeans.

On November 18^th, an 85 year old woman was driving down East County Rd 138 in Midland County when she stopped at a stop sign at Rankin Hwy.  A dark colored pickup pulled up behind her and a white male got out of the truck and knocked on her window asking for directions.  The suspect then stuck a pistol in the victims face and demanded that she give him her purse.  The purse and the contents were worth over $1,000.
